Perhaps you already knew, but according to the American Association of Endodontics, while all endodontists are dentists, less than 3% of dentists are endodontists. Endodontists are specialists because they’ve completed an additional two or more years of training beyond dental school. Their additional training focuses on diagnosing tooth pain and root canal treatment and other procedures related to the interior of the tooth. Therefore, endodontists proudly refer to themselves as “specialists in saving teeth.”
Meet Dr. Jason Cohen, who has more than 15 years of experience and “15,000 endodontic procedures to draw upon.” He graduated in general dentistry from the Medical University of South Carolina’s College of Dental Medicine and went on to earn a certificate of specialty training at Boston University, where he trained under Dr. Herbert Schilder, “whom many consider to be the father of modern endodontics.” Dr. Cohen is now a board-eligible specialist in the field of endodontics by the South Carolina Dental Association, a member of the American Dental Association and a former president of the Charleston Dental Society.
“We have an excellent reputation for being kind, caring and focused on what is in the best interest for our patients,” he pointed out. “We pride ourselves not just on delivering predictable care but also on being available. Additionally, we have Sugie, our therapy dog, who has been comforting both adults and pediatric patients for over five years.”
Dr. Cohen was named Best Endodontist by the readers of HealthLinks Magazine for 2021. For more information, call 843-216-2157, or visit www.endodonticsltd.com. Endodontics Ltd has locations in Mount Pleasant, SC.
