River Landing Dentistry: Growing and Growing

Dr. Rebeca Zechmann of River Landing Dentistry

River Landing Dentistry opened its doors in 2018 on Daniel Island under the leadership of Dr. Rebeca Zechmann. The goal is “positively influencing lives by providing compassionate dental care.” What started with the idea of a group model, where dentists could work with and off each other, has grown into a thriving practice with multiple locations. Expanding those horizons included opening the Summerville-Nexton location in 2021, with a West Summerville location to follow (at the entrance to The Ponds neighborhood) in November 2023.

In September 2023, a practice was acquired in North Charleston from a retiring doctor, and by the end of April 2024, a new location will open doors in Mount Pleasant. This location will be conveniently situated at the end of the Ravenel Bridge. Two locations have been confirmed to be completed in the next two years, and will be built from the ground up. They include a location on Maybank highway and another practice to serve the James and Johns Island communities.

Looking to the future, River Landing Dentistry hopes to move out of Charleston, and up and down the coast. They hope to have a network of 30 offices in the next 10 years. Every office and doctor have a niche, and when the group grows, so do the procedures and specialties offered.

Along with the continuing growth of the dental offices, the Zechmanns have recently purchased a 300-acre farm in McClellanville. It is currently serving as an event venue for weddings, birthdays, family vacations and more. The Zechmanns plan to continue these events while adding more services. The space can accommodate corporate retreats and planning sessions, while offering overnight accommodation for 10-20 people. There is currently a ten-stall horse barn for boarding, lessons, and trail riding. Eventually, a large barn with 40 horse stalls will be built, and equestrian shows and competitions will be incorporated. Come enjoy the space while, as Zechmann said, “creating unique, memorable and enjoyable experiences.”

What do DDS and DMD mean?

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) and Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) in the United States are the same degrees imparting the same education, and both meet requirements set by the American Dental Association. Its up to the accredited dental school awarding the degree to determine which degree they award.
